A food gift is always appreciated and loved at my house and when the food is given in a beautiful serving piece meant for you to keep, it’s double the pleasure!
Our good friends, Amy and Nick Ausman came up from Georgia for a visit, and anytime Amy shows up anywhere, her arms are loaded with gifts-food gifts. She is heck of a cook. She and Nick own the Crystal Bay Lodge up in scenic Petersburg, Alaska, and Amy single handedly cooks all of the meals for her guests–lucky folks.
When she showed up for this recent visit, again, arms loaded, she had a pretty little blue casserole serving piece filled with a “hot dish”-what Minnesotans call a casserole. I hit the jackpot–a casserole and a lovely casserole dish! We froze the hot dish to enjoy later and just this week, after a long day of work that included shooting the Top 20, I pulled that beautiful blue pan from the freezer for dinner that night. Knowing Amy, I knew it would be good and I was not disappointed! Stay tuned for that wild rice hot dish recipe when Amy guest blogs in the coming weeks.
The little blue beauty is CorningWare- CorningWare CW to be exact. CorningWare is a name that I grew up with. It’s a brand, a description, a term, and a product that my mom had in her kitchen and used on a daily basis. I followed in her footsteps and have plenty of CorningWare in mine, I just didn’t have any colors- only the traditional white. Thanks to Amy, I found the CW line and all of the great colors it comes in–bringing some texture and cheerfulness with every dish prepared, but with the same characteristics of CorningWare that we all love & appreciate–freezer, oven, and dishwasher-safe.
The food you serve is gone after the meal, but your serving pieces live in your kitchen for a long time and set the tone. Grab some of these colorful casseroles and serving pieces and add some cheery personality to your table while you’re serving up your family favorites!
Here’s the set at the CorningWare website if you want to check it out.
