A couple of weeks ago, I got to visit the studio of potter David Howard in Gatlinburg, TN (the artist who makes our OPN mugs here on the website). We shot a video recipe together and cooked Orange Rosemary Chicken using one of his pieces of pottery, the Mountain Manna Chicken Cooker. Before we hit the kitchen, he put me on the wheel–the potter’s wheel, that is– and I got to try my hand at making one. When the episode airs here on the site in a few weeks, you’ll see how I did, but let me just say–thank goodness he was able to salvage my misshapen effort and turn it into this– which he just sent in the mail. Thank you, David-you are gifted & this is beautiful!! I love the 3 colors and I’m so looking forward to using this at Thanksgiving. I’m going to use the base bowl for the Kelley family favorite dish, Horseradish Baked Carrots. If you don’t have any pottery in your collection, check out David’s work at www.dhowardpottery.net and invest in a piece of your own. He’s got bread bakers, pie plates, wine goblets, brie bakers, dinner plates and lots more…whatever you choose, you’ll have a completely handmade, beautiful and functional piece of art that will be the topic of conversation at your table and it will last forever. Thank you, David and don’t worry…I won’t be quitting my day job.
