Christmas has come & gone, 2015 rang in with a bang, the tree’s down, the diet has started and now, its time to clean! And with all of that cooking over the holidays, I’m focusing on the kitchen! I don’t do very much cooking in the microwave, but between melting butter for cookies & reheating leftovers after Thanksgiving & Christmas, my mighty little GE stayed busy. If you cook a lot in your microwave, then you know the awful chore it is to clean–dried on food, stuck in the corners & vents, baked on coffee spills—not a fun job. One easy, no-fail way to clean your microwave WITHOUT scrubbing, strong chemicals and a lot of effort is with steam. Here’s what you do–fill a microwave safe bowl 2/3 full with water. Put in the microwave and cook on high for 3 minutes. When it’s done, don’t open the door. Let the bowl sit in the oven for at least 5 minutes–allowing the steam from the hot water to dissolve dried on food. Open door and remove bowl. Wipe the inside clean with a wet rag, sponge or even a paper towel will do the job. Done–easily cleaned with the power of steam.
