Okay, I realize I MAY be on a bit of a chocolate kick. Last week, a chocolate bar…this week, a chocolate muffin…can never have too much 🙂
I’ve driven by this bakery in my neighborhood almost daily for years now and I’ve never gone in. I noticed the cute little building, the flashing sign saying ‘Gluten Free’ and kept saying to myself “I’ve got to check that place out!” With family members who are gluten intolerant & Celiac, I’m always looking for healthy alternatives. Three years of this & finally, I stopped for a visit at The Wild Muffin in West Nashville… & I’m glad I did because it’s wildy wonderful!
First, the owner Antoinette is so kind & and clearly passionate about the store and its philosphy– they’re a 100% dedicated gluten-free and peanut free bakery, with vegan, dairy free, no refined sugar and low fat options. Excited that this was my first time in there, she offered samples, told me about their baking process & introduced me to her staff. The Cinnamon Buttermilk muffins had just come out of the oven and they were dipping the tops in butter and then rolling them in a cinnamon sugar mix. I was in a trance. Then Antoinette offered me a taste of the Choco-Holic muffin and that was it. Katy bar the door. This gluten free, dairy free, vegan muffin is insanely good! Slightly crunchy on the top ‘crust’ part and the moist chewy bottom, full of dark chocolate chips. Delicious!! You are not missing what’s not in there. Made with coconut milk and applesauce and no refined white sugar.I walked out that day with a bag full of goods! Charlie eyeballed the bounty when I got home and immediately claimed the Pumpkin Cheesecake muffin as his. You’ll have to take his word for it that it’s good too 🙂 If you’re gluten intolerant or you have a little one in your family with a peanut allergy, check them out! 999B Davidson Rd in West Nashville. They’re also at The Turnip Truck, Whole Foods and several others places around Music City. www.thewildmuffin.com
