Spring is kicking into high gear here in Middle Tennessee! I finally saw 84 degrees on the outside thermometer today! The dogwoods did/are doing there thing, the hostas are up and unveiling, and the redbuds were just beautiful. Warm days now and cool nights-ahhh. And it is such a sight to see everything coming to life. I’ve started thinking about what I’m going to plant herb wise this year and was so happy to see that the mint and rosemary made it through the winter. I planted them both last year in the ground near the house and glad to have ’em back. One less to buy and one less to plant. Then as Charlie and I were cleaning out the dead plants in the herb pots, he said, “Is that a tomato plant??” To our surprise, it was–two of them as a matter of fact!! Yahoo!!
I guess one or two little cherry tomatoes dropped down in the pot and seeded in the soil. What a wonderful surprise. Charlie gently scooped them up and re potted them to the bigger pot and I watered the heck out of them. So we are underway and I’m going to add to the collection in a couple of weeks…heading to my neighborhood plant place and do some shopping! I can taste the fresh pesto now. Hoorah for herbs…and tomatoes 🙂
